Jesús “Bubu” Negrón (Puerto Rico, 1975) lives and works in Puerto Rico. He uses installation, performance, sculptures, ready-mades and public interventions. His work is characterized by an interest in everyday life and social interactions: he organizes collaborative projects with members of communities with which he works. His actions and interventions often focus on imbalances in power and authority structures, and often are imbued with humor. His solo exhibitions include A Reflection Room (about the past, the present and beyond), Henrique Faria, New York (2016); Cardboard and Carnival Abstraction, Roberto Paradise, Puerto Rico (2014); and Low Budget Drawings, Roberto Paradise at ARCO Madrid, Spain (2013). Negrón has participated in several international biennales including 1st Bienal Tropical, Puerto Rico (2012); Trienal Poli/Gráfica de San Juan, Puerto Rico (2009); Sharjah Bienal, Sharjah (2007); Whitney Biennial, New York (2006); and T1 Torino Triennale, Italy (2005).His work has also been exhibited in several group shows in United States, Switzerland, Spain, Mexico, The Netherlands, Colombia, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
