Elisabeth Wild

NADA NY 2015

Solo Exhibition: Ninety Three
Booth 1.05
NADA New York, NY, USA

Elisabeth Wild (Vienna, 1922) is a self-taught artist. She comes from a family of female artists and, in 1939, emigrated to Buenos Aires escaping the war. Once there, Wild begun her explorations in textile design and became a member of the Fine Arts Circle through which she participated in several group exhibitions. On her return to Europe she settled in Basel. She opened an antiques shop and continued her exploration into watercolour, ceramics, metalworks and the nude. At the age of 74 she moved to Panajachel, a village on the shores of Lake Atitlan in Guatemala, where she currently lives and works.

During the last few years she has participated in group exhibitions in Museo Tamayo (Mexico) and Museo de Arte y Diseño Contemporáneo (Costa Rica), and has had solo and two-person exhibitions in Kunsthalle Basel (Basel, Switzerland), The Mistake Room (Los Angeles, CA, USA), and Proyectos Ultravioleta (Guatemala City, Guatemala).

For NADA New York 2015, she will present some of her most recent collages on paper, all of which are exquisitely composed using magazine cutouts.

At the age of 93, this is Elisabeth Wild’s first ever solo exhibition in the United States.
