Monstera Deliciosa. Collages by Elisabeth Wild and large-format paintings by Vivian Suter.

Elisabeth Wild (Vienna, 1922) and Vivian Suter (Buenos Aires, 1949) live in Panajachel, Sololá. They are mother and daughter. In their work, each one understands the natural environment from a unique place: Elisabeth with an interior, calm look. Vivian incorporates the force of the weather.

Elisabeth’s father had a Monstera Deliciosa at home. It is a climbing plant that always accompanied the family. Today, a Monstera Deliciosa traces the bookstore of the space where Elisabeth works. Vivian has grown a whole clump of them in her lush garden.

Monstera Deliciosa is a climbing species endemic to tropical forests from southern Mexico north of Argentina. It belongs to the family of the Aráceas and is known for its heart-shaped leaves that can reach up to one meter in length.
