God save the Queen
the fascist regime,
they made you a moron
a potential H-bomb.

God save the Queen
She is not not human being.
-The Sex Pistols, 1977

In his first exhibition in Guatemala, Naufus Ramírez-Figueroa (Guatemala, 1978) uses several Canadian patriotic symbols to reflect on his own identity. In The Queen is dead, El Alce la Mató explores in depth his relationship with Queen Elizabeth of England, through collages, drawings, photography, installation and humor.

This relationship began in his childhood, when Naufus left for exile with his grandmother, to Vancouver, Canada. At first He did not understand the reason for the existence of The Queen; In spite of seeing her in photographs in all the classrooms of her school and in every form of the Canadian government, she seemed as invented as Santa Claus. However, with the passing of the years, things changed. Soon he understood that She was as unreal as necessary. In her succulent breasts she found the solution to many of her material and existential problems. In exchange for an unreal loyalty, she gave him housing, social security and unlimited apapacho.
